24, US/EST, (proud) taurusThank you for coming to read about my character! She is very special to me, and her evolution over the years has been phenomenal to see as a writer. I am looking forward to hopping back into the FFXIV roleplay space.bluesky | tumblr | pinterest
I. 21+ only
i am most comfortable with writers that are over the age of 21.II. godmodding/lorebending
oora (and many of my other characters) have aspects to them that bend the lore given to us within Final Fantasy XIV to varying degrees. I am mostly laid back on power levels, strange character backgrounds, etc. However, if I feel that a characters' abilities, history, or skills are simply too great to fit within the everyday life on Eitherys, I reserve the right to cease roleplay. Please respect this!iii. consent
Consent is necessary for me for many scenarios that may feature explicit or otherwise triggering content. There are some subjects that I will not write. This is because I feel as if the quality of the writing will suffer due to my own OOC pretenses. I make it a point to acquire consent and set ground rules for potentially sensitive threads/scenes, and hope that you do that for me too.iv. ooc =/ ic
This one is quite important to me, as it is for most folks. The actions, ideas, and opinions of my character do not reflect my own, and vice versa. While Oora isn't exactly the meanest person, she can come off at condescending and pretentious.

Please don't hesitate to message me about roleplay plots/opportunities! I am very open to discussion of our characters.
I. dark academia
like a moth to a flame, oora is drawn to anything and everything resembling a library. whether it is to browse the titles, or sit beside a candelit corner and dabble in her journal, she finds that being surrounded by books is her natural habitat.II. gridanian blights
within her small pocket of the black shroud, oora is known to many for her no-strings-attached healing services. your character may come in need of her aid whilst in the forests.III. a piece of the puzzle
reading oora's aether will reveal much about her past. held together by tight, thin strings, scattered memories and distorted blinks in time make a puzzle in which many of it's pieces are seemingly erased from time. glimpses of people she's (presumably) never met, and the smell of clean spring water and musk. put there appears to be something that stands out amongst the confusion...IV. lepidopterology 101
osgood leuminart, despite his countless contributions to the nation of sharlayan, was nevertheless a stain on the reputation of it's scholars. your character, perhaps a former student or acquaintance of his, bond with oora over this.

THE LEPIDOPTERIAN AWAKENS. The girl once thought to be dead to the world twice over, Oora is surely a sight for sore eyes. Born and raised amongst wealth in Ul'dah, her merchant parents, namely her mother, kept the au ra within the confines of their estate and gardens during the most formative years of her life. Such solitude came to a boiling point on the eve of her nineteenth birthday, and she escaped with the help of her father's airship.
She was meticulously tailored into the perfect lady. Well rounded, yet severely lacking in worldly knowledge. She only knew what she needed to know to hold shallow conversation, yet her curiosity wandered farther than the high verdant fences surrounding her home would allow.
A significant amount of time has passed since escaping her childhood home, and Oora is seldom the person she was before, both in spirit and in body. The events surrounding the Final Days rattled the planet, and she was not spared any grief. After losing her mentor to the Blasphemies, Oora was permanently changed, having to navigate the loss of the only individual who cared for her. And although, with time, it became easier to deflect, the grief eventually consumed her.
Oora spent more and more time within the Great Gubal Library, a former Sharlayan facility abandoned by it's founders. Her late mentor had a series of texts on its' shelves, and she drowned herself in the goal to complete it. Whether it was the devastation of loss that swallowed the girl, or perhaps something magical, she'll never know. However, her mysterious disappearance in the library was just another cautionary tale, another bad omen.
One full summer later, under the same full moon she had disappeared in, the Lepidopterian returned. A changed woman, she was, donning soft ears and a tail instead of scales, her aether discombobulated and puzzled. It was as if a book had swallowed her whole and tried to put her back again... but with no doubt, it was her.
Today, Oora resides in a small village just outside of Gridania, her home nestled by a towering waterfall. Her late mentors' gardener, Vriva, checks on her almost daily. Her priorities lie within the general health of her community, operating as a freelancing healer. She has since found closure amongst the grief, but questions surrounding her disappearance remain.

She is the girl once thought to be dead... twice. She is the ever breathing, ever evolving. She is, seemingly, the thread between worlds, the words that bind to the page that burst from their parchment and into life itself. She is nature in it's most confusing... it's most enigmatic form. She is the Lepidopterian.Oora is, above all, caring. She may not be kind at times, but her on-occasion snooty behavior is relatively easy to move past, especially when she's the one curing your wounds. A scholar at heart, nothing motivates her more than the pursuit of knowledge, whether that be in fashion or in aetherology. However, that doesn't stop her from stepping into the worlds created from fiction. She enjoys writing complex characters, storylines, and romantic plots.

morpho.
You will notice a small, blue butterfly following closely behind (or in front of) Oora. That is her companion, her seeing-eye Morpho, her champion. On her closest calls, it was the butterfly that saved her from the brink of death, pulled from succumbing to her injuries, and rescued her from the hands of the Lifestream.Throughout her numerous dances with death, her aether has taken a toll, a twist within itself, and Morpho has granted her the ability to function normally despite her conditions.Morpho is made up of multiple things. The memories of her former mentor, the invaluable knowledge from Nym, and unaspected Astral aether.

battle information.
Oora's role as a scholar has evolved over the years. From a budding traditional Arcanist struggling to produce an aetheric shield, to a masterful Lepidopterian with the power to create multilayered, latticed barriers, she has put herself through the wringer with one overarching goal in mind: To find the missing journals of her former mentor. While Scholars utilize codexes and ancient tomes to channel their power, her mentor had other ideas. Closing the gap between book and staff, Oora uses a long cane made from the very pages of his previous codex. The theories and laws in which she was taught come to life when supplied with aether. While preferring to stay on the sidelines of battle, the Lepidopterian is not one to shy away from a wounded ally. Whether it's safe or dangerous, she will be there, for her most powerful of shields are produced out of desperation and emergency.
